Home » Wim Van Biesen
Wim Van Biesen is teaching professor of nephrology and head of the Nephrology Department at the Ghent University Department. His research projects focus on enhancing the evidence based approach of nephrology, with an emphasis on acute kidney injury and intensive care medicine. He holds an academic degree in biomedical engineering with a focus on artificial organs and artificial intelligence. As ex-chair of European Renal Best Practice, he still figures in the board and European guideline development committees. He is also responsible for the teaching of evidence based medicine within the ManaMa. He has published over 450 A1 papers, resulting in an Hirsh index of 47. He is the vice-chair of EuroPD. He is the cofounder of the Consortium on Justifiable Digital Healthcare in UZGent.
