Chetan Kumar Velumurugan is a PhD Candidate in Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Prevention at Université Paris Cité. His work explores how open innovation and digital health technologies can be harnessed to bridge healthcare gaps and improve access to specialized care in resource-constrained environments. Currently, his research focuses on developing and evaluating open access tools for managing Chronic Kidney Disease(CKD) in low-resource settings. He is building the Open Dialysis Integrated Care Platform, where he is involved in developing and testing point-of-care diagnostic tools, portable dialysis machines and digital tools for collecting and analyzing patient reported outcomes(PROs). He is passionate about improving public health in developing economies by creating digital solutions that prioritize patient outcomes and enable efficient monitoring of disease progression. Before his PhD, he worked in the IT industry, developing products and solutions across various domains including digital health, financial services, and telecommunication. This diverse experience informs his current work, allowing him to apply principles of user-centered design and scalable technology solutions to complex public health challenges.
