Doctor Belkacem Issad is a former practising nephrologist at the Pitié/Salpêtrière Hospital, Sorbonne Paris 6 University, in charge of the peritoneal dialysis unit from 1982 to 2019 and the day hospital from 2012 to 2019.

Throughout his career, he has been involved in the management of diabetic patients, elderly patients and the assessment of suitability for peritoneal dialysis.

He was medical referent for the AURA association training centre (FID) from 1990 to 2019 and an expert on the dialysis commission at AFFSSAFS and then AMSN from 1990 to 2010.

Over the last decade, he has been particularly involved in developing the programme for the University Nephrology Seminars (SUN).

He has organised the annual Paris DP Club meeting for several years, followed by the DAD Club in 2019.

He is a member of the following learned societies: RDPLF, SFNDT, EDTA, ISPD, SUN.
